Unauthorized entry into an occupied dwelling has led to the arrest of a woman who walked into an occupied flat in Grambling and slept on a couch.
On June 11, Ashlei Nicole Barnes, 29, of Ruston, was taken into custody by Grambling Police when a man discovered her dozing off on his couch.
Barnes was lying on his couch when the man, who had called 911 to report a noise that had woken him up, entered the hallway. He rushed outside and dialed 911 after telling the police he didn’t know Barnes.
Barnes admitted to entering the flat through the front window when questioned. She claimed to be exhausted and attempting to get some sleep, but she was unsure of whose apartment she was in.
Two weeks prior, Ruston Police had received several reports of a lady with a firearm causing a disturbance on Clinton Circle, which led to Barnes’ arrest.
A law enforcement organization has made this material available to the public. Until proven guilty in a court of law, people named or depicted in photos or videos as suspects in a criminal investigation, or who are detained and accused of a crime, are deemed innocent.
