Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop F started looking into a deadly two-vehicle collision on Louisiana Highway 151, just south of Louisiana Highway 144, on Sunday, June 22, 2025, just after 9:00 p.m. Rachel Rushing, 36, of West Monroe, died in the collision.
According to the first inquiry, 27-year-old Noah Short was operating a 2015 GMC Sierra south on Louisiana Highway 151. Rushing was driving a 2016 Nissan Sentra north on Louisiana Highway 151 at the same moment. Short slammed the Nissan head-on in the northbound lane of Louisiana Highway 151 after crossing the centerline for an unidentified cause.
Despite being securely restrained, Rushing died at the scene after suffering lethal injuries. A passenger in the Nissan’s front seat, who was securely buckled up, was sent to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. Short was unhurt and unconstrained. Routine toxicological samples were taken and will be submitted for investigation even if impairment is not suspected. Investigations into this crash are still ongoing.
