According to an ASP press statement, Clinton Brink, 43, and Kristen Brink, 41, were killed by an unidentified suspect while they were hiking with their daughters. The 7 and 9-year-old youngsters are safe with family members and were not hurt.

According to the release, investigators believe the suspect is a medium-built Caucasian man who was wearing sunglasses, a dark ballcap, dark slacks, a long-sleeved shirt with the sleeves rolled up, and fingerless gloves at the time of the incident. According to the announcement, the suspect may have been seen on State Highways 170 or 220 close to the park, carrying a black rucksack and a Mazda with a license plate covered by electrical or duct tape.

State police have requested that anyone who visited Devil’s Den on July 26 check any photos or videos taken for images of the suspect. They have also asked locals to let ASP know if they have access to security and game camera footage. According to the announcement, anyone with pictures or information about the suspect can contact ASP at (479) 751-6663.

At 2:40 p.m. on July 26, ASP received notification of the double killing.

Although authorities have not disclosed how the couple was slain or provided any other information about the perpetrator, police radio audio obtained by CNN indicates the pair may have been stabbed.

In a statement to ABC News, the victims’ relatives asked for privacy:

As they grieve and adjust to this new reality, the family is requesting privacy at this extremely trying time. They request that anyone with information that could aid in the investigation get in touch with the appropriate authorities right now. Clinton and Kristen deserve justice since they were heroes who died defending their young daughters. They will always be a part of our hearts.

The announcement stated that the pair had recently relocated to Prairie Grove, a community southwest of Fayetteville in Washington County. According to an analysis of their Facebook activity, the pair may have resided in Montana and California in the past.

Numerous media outlets nationwide have reported the story, including USA Today, the Associated Press, the New York Times, and the New York Post.

According to the press statement, after obtaining more information, authorities revised their first description of the suspect, which stated that he was wearing a tank top, on Sunday.
