UPDATE: Information from Little Rock Mayor Frank Scott Jr. was first added to this story.Additionally, the Little Rock School District has added their thoughts.
The school was not the objective of the fatal shooting that occurred Wednesday afternoon near an early childhood school, according to Little Rock police.
According to Little Rock Mayor Frank Scott Jr.’s statement, the victim worked for the school district.
The man was repeatedly ran over by a car before being shot, according to security camera footage of the incident, according to a city official.
The shooting was thought to have been a domestic occurrence, meaning the victim knew her assailant, and she passed away at the scene.
On Wednesday night, the Little Rock School District released the following statement regarding the murder:
The unfortunate domestic incident that happened outside Rockefeller Early Childhood Center this afternoon is heartbreaking to the Little Rock School District. This was a singular occurrence. Even though there were no kids involved, we are aware that this incident has a significant impact on the whole school community, particularly on any staff members who may have seen it happen. Parents were phoned to pick up their children after a lockdown. In order to assist students, employees, and families at this trying time, the District has sent out social workers and counselors. We encourage the community to remember and pray for the Rockefeller ECC family as we work closely with the Little Rock Police Department on their investigation.
As further details become available, the District will update the public.
At the scene on Wednesday afternoon, not many details were made public. Bragg Street, which runs along the western side of the early childhood education institution serving children aged 4 and younger, was sealed off by Little Rock police and Little Rock School District security personnel.
