The 1985 movie of the same name is mentioned in the lyrics of a new song I’ve grown to love called “After Hours” by Christian Lee Hutson: “I miss our adventures, East Village winters / Acting out True West by lamplight / You look like Catherine O Hara from After Hours / You were really on one that night.” Even though I haven’t watched the film—a neo-noir black comedy that is meant to be somewhat of an anomaly in Martin Scorsese’s broader body of work—those Hutson lines are so striking that I’ve put it on my watch list.
I’m fortunate that 19 movies, including After Hours, which celebrates its 40th anniversary this year, will be showing at the CALS Ron Robinson Theater next month. Se7en (1995), GoldenEye (1995), Better Off Dead (1985), A Boy and His Dog (1975), 12 Monkeys (1995), Clue (1985), The Magnificent Seven (1960), Day of the Dead (1985), and The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975), which Ron Robinson presents each month, are among the other anniversary screenings at the theater in September.
Beer, wine, and concessions will be available on-site, and tickets may be bought here. A complete list of the offers for September:
