Funeral services for Lorraine Gibson will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, June 6, 2025 at Owens Memorial Chapel in Ruston, LA with Pastor Randy Goudeau officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Simsboro, LA under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston.
Marjorie Lorene “Lorraine” Traylor Gibson was born in Simsboro, LA to James “Jelly” Dolphus Traylor and Delma Armenda Dennis Traylor and passed peacefully on June 4, 2025 in Bossier City, LA at age 90.
Lorraine began her working career at Ruston Broilers and then moved on to Ruston State School where she worked in the cafeteria before she became a Cottage Parent. She found her way back into the food industry and worked for Hill Cafeteria in Ruston for many years where she met a countless amount of people. Lorraine later retired as a caregiver of nearly 20 years from Family Care Services.
Lorraine is preceded in death by her parents; brothers: L.E. Cockerham, Jimmy Lynn Traylor, Charles Traylor, Bobby Ray “Sonny” Traylor, Jerry Traylor, Terry Traylor, Felton Traylor, Donnie Traylor and Rex Traylor; sister: Mary Joe Traylor, and grandsons: Chad Gibson and Keith Walker.
Lorraine is survived by her children: Andy Gibson (Diane) of Choudrant, LA, Bobbie Anne Willoughby (Keith Hill) of Kaufman, TX, Denise Stevens (TJ Harper) of Shreveport, LA, Rhonda Hayes (Cecil “Buster”) of Bossier City, LA, and Linda Stephens (Paul) of Lubbock, TX; grandchildren: Brad Gibson (Jeannie), Kevin Ward (Joanna), Daniel Walker, Alex Stevens, Cullen Stevens, Marcus Stevens, Jamie Land (Matt), Alicia Medaries, Randy Lemoine, Nick Newlen (Mickey Mostyn), Wes Newlen (Amber), and Josh Stephens (Heather) and numerous great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Theresa Hearold (Jesse) of West Monroe, LA, and a host of other family members and friends.
Serving as pallbearers will be her nephews: Jamie Traylor and Brandon Collins, nephew-in-law Jon Pat Clemons, great nephew Kane Kennimer, grandson-in-law Matt Land, and great grandson-in-law Hunter Huey. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be her nephew Lynn Traylor and her long-time friend Jeff Pipes.
