Teddy Wayne Cheshier, 85, of Newport, passed from this life on July 9, 2025. He was born on August 14, 1939, in Batesville to Oscar Lee and Donna Mae (McAdams) Cheshier.
Teddy worked in construction for many years and was known for his strong work ethic and quiet determination. He had a deep appreciation for the outdoors and spent much of his free time fishing, hunting, arrowhead hunting, and bowling. These activities brought him joy and allowed him to connect with nature and those he loved. He also had a great love for cooking and baking pies, he was especially known for his pecan pies.
He was a devoted member of Amagon Baptist Church and lived his life with a steady faith and gentle spirit. Teddy’s warm personality, love for storytelling, and kind heart made him a beloved presence to all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Shirley Cheshier; his son, David Lee Cheshier; his brothers, Roger Ellis, John Wesley “Toby” Cheshier, and Theodore Cheshier; and his sister, Bobbie Benson.
He is survived by his sons, Michael Cheshier of Newport and Steven Cheshier of Diaz; his daughter, Andrea Nicholson of Tuckerman; his brother, Robert Easter of Hot Springs, his sisters, Gail Ellis of Jacksonport and Terri Easter of Hot Springs; his grandchildren, Michael Damien Cheshier of Connecticut, Dustin Lee Cheshier (Tristan) of Diaz, Mika Destiny Cheshier of Newport, Matt Long of Newport, Brittany Walker (Christian) of Jonesboro, Sasha Lee Shirley (Jarrod) of Cave City, Stephanie Starr Simmons (RJ) of Diaz, Steven Anthony Cheshier of Diaz, Shawn Walker of Newport, Jessa Long (Cody) of Newport, Dalton Ryan Koller (Courtney) of Thida, Rylee Sullins of Jonesboro, Ruth-Ann Bailey Nicholson of Florida, and Alex Nicholson of Newport; great grandchildren, Madison Cheshier, Logan Cheshier, Kelsey Cheshier, Kaden Cheshier, Mason Simmons, McKinley Simmons, Reya Farnsworth, Nara Farnsworth, Merrett Farnsworth, Denver Cowell, Drayden Koller, David (Revel) Koller, Dutton Nicholson, Slayton Nicholson, Adelyn Shirley, Keith Shirley; and a lifetime of friends.
Teddy will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
