Obituary: Norma Jean (Dale) Cox

On Saturday, July 26, 2025, Norma Jean (Dale) Cox, 82, of Cash, died at home. She was born to Everett and Frances (Steward) Dale in Cushman on August 15, 1942. Homemaker Norma Jean belonged to the Little Texas Missionary Baptist Church. She enjoyed word hunts, fishing, gardening, and listening to country and gospel music.

Her parents, Jerry Dean Cox, her husband of 64 years, and her five brothers, Mardell, Verdell, Gerald, Danny, and David Dale, passed away before her.

Her daughters Pam Hill (Harlan) and Angie Gorbet (Steve), grandchildren Ryan Hill (Chesney), Shayne Hill, and one great-grandchild Sadie Hill, brothers Teo Dale and Darrell Dale (Teresa), and sister Wilma Russell (Freddy) are the only ones remaining to honor her memory.

Terry Simmons will preside over the funeral ceremony on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at 2:00 pm at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home, 1900 W. Washington Ave., Jonesboro. Redd Cemetery will be the last resting place.

Before the service, visitors will be able to arrive starting at 1:00 pm.

Ryan Hill, Shayne Hill, Wayne Carlton, Harlan Hill, Steve Gorbet, and Anthony Estes will be the Pallbearers.

Scotty Gibson, Brandon Walker, Daniel Walker, Bob Wortham, Barry Priest, Jerome Pettit, and Donnie Jackson will all serve as honorary pallbearers.

Memorials in Norma Jean’s honor can be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN, 38105, in place of flowers.
