On August 20, 2025, Lecil Reece, 92, departed from this life in peace, leaving a legacy of loyalty, honor, and love.

Lecil was born in Big Flat, Arkansas, on April 19, 1933, and was raised with a strong sense of duty, family, and faith. In high school, he met Bettie Weaver, the love of his life, and the two of them graduated from Perryville High School in 1952. Soon after, they were married, and before Bettie’s death, they had 68 amazing years together. There is rejoicing and delight upon their reunion in paradise!

As a lifelong soldier in the US Army, Lecil devoted his life to defending his nation. He received the Bronze Star Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry, and many more awards for his valor and leadership. His dedication to defending his nation and his loved ones remained unwavering throughout his numerous tours of service.

Lecil’s loyalty to God, his family, and his country came before his love of the outdoors. He loved hunting, fishing, and taking in the grandeur of the natural world. His life revolved on his faith; his favorite book was the Bible, and he found solace and strength in his favorite hymn, How Great Thou Art.

Lecil’s parents, sisters, son Chris Reece, grandson Will Reece, and cherished wife Bettie Reece all passed away before him.His grandkids are Valerie Finn (Vinnie Finn) and Jay Michael Wetzel (Jossie Wetzel); his great-grandchildren are Vincent, Vance, Varen, and Vayda Finn; and Annabel, Clark, Samuel, and Henry Wetzel. He is survived by his daughters, DuWan Wetzel (Jay Wetzel) and Pam Reece (Tori Weight). His family loved him very much, and they will always remember him.

A life well lived, Lecil set an example for everyone he knew with his religion, service, and love.
