At the age of 80, Barbara Sue (Taylor) Lasley of Heber Springs, Arkansas, passed away on Friday, August 15, 2025. Troy and Juanita (Lawson) Taylor were her parents, and she was born in Newport on November 1, 1944.
After graduating from Newport High School, Mrs. Lasley attended Arkansas State University for two years. Prior to her retirement, she was employed at Cleburne County Bank as a bank teller. Mrs. Lasley belonged to Heber Springs’ First Baptist Church.
Mrs. Lasley liked to watch the Green Bay Packers and go to yard sales. She was devoted to her family and loved her tiny puppy, Sugar, who she could not help but occasionally sneak a sip of Dr. Pepper. Being a grandmother and assisting in the upbringing of her grandkids was, above all, Mrs. Lasley’s greatest happiness. She had a unique way of making each of her grandchildren feel genuinely loved, and she liked telling everyone who would listen amusing tales about them. Her cooking in the kitchen and singing goofy songs are among the most endearing recollections. She will always be known for You Are My Sunshine, as well as her fried chicken and ooey gooey butter cake, which were everyone’s favorites. She came up with funny and unusual gifts that the grandchildren will always treasure because she detested the thought of simply giving them money as they grew older. She made it her mission to find out what her children or grandchildren were interested in, whether it was the newest video games or the newest rap music. She constantly sought to find a way to engage with each of them.
Rex Lasley, Mrs. Lasley’s husband of 47 years, her brother Bobby Charles Taylor, and her parents all passed away before her.
