Michelle Gray named chief financial officer at ASU-Beebe

The new chief financial officer and vice chancellor for finance and administration at Arkansas State University-Beebe is Michelle Gray, a former state representative with backgrounds in education, healthcare, and finance.

At Ozarka College, where she later held the position of interim vice president for finance, Gray started her career in higher education finance in 2006 as a business manager. After serving as a clinic administrator in 2012, she moved into leadership positions with White River Health System and, most recently, A First Name Basis Home Care, where she was the market leader in Arkansas.

Additionally, Gray served as the representative for Izard, Stone, and Independence counties in the Arkansas House of Representatives from 2015 to 2022.

According to Gray, her dedication to community colleges stems from her own experiences. She attributes her son’s success as a commercial pilot and flight instructor to his completion of a two-year aviation school.

In a statement, Gray said, “I have a heart for higher education, community colleges in particular, and the mission they strive to attain.”

Jennifer Methvin, the chancellor of ASU-Beebe, stated that Gray’s experience made her a valuable member of the college’s leadership group.

Michelle is a great addition to ASU-Beebe, Methvin remarked. She shares our enthusiasm for changing lives in addition to her wealth of knowledge and expertise in financial leadership.

In addition to graduating from the Center for Advancement of Leadership Skills and the Arkansas Community Colleges Higher Education Leadership Institute, Gray earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Arkansas State University in Jonesboro.

In her role as CFO, she will be in charge of facilities operations, accounting, cashiering, business management, accounts payable and receivable, and procurement.

For students who might not otherwise have access to higher education, community institutions are essential, according to Gray.

According to her, ASU-Beebe offers a vast array of degrees and certificates, giving students the opportunity to fulfill their ambitions while staying near their homes and participating in their communities.
