A Ruston patrol supervisor identified and apprehended a man who was sought in Texas, but the suspect resisted.
After learning that the wanted man was in the neighborhood, the supervisor spotted Kino Malik Mattox, 28, of Ruston, on West California Avenue on June 20.
Mattox was recognized as the driver when the car was pulled over. A search of his records revealed that he was wanted in Fort Worth, Texas, that his driver’s license was suspended, and that there was no liability insurance on the car.
Mattox refused to get out of the driver’s seat when he was informed that he was being arrested. Eventually, he unbuckled himself, but he resisted attempts to arrest him and refused to exit the car. For Mattox to be taken into prison, he had to be physically removed from the car.
Mattox acknowledged carrying an ecstasy pill in a pouch inside his underwear on the way to the Lincoln Parish Detention Center. The pill was found at the detention facility where Mattox was arrested for the two Texas warrants, resisting an officer, driving while suspended, not having liability insurance, and possessing a Schedule I controlled narcotic.
A law enforcement organization has made this material available to the public. Until proven guilty in a court of law, people named or depicted in photos or videos as suspects in a criminal investigation, or who are detained and accused of a crime, are deemed innocent.
