Following a tip from the U.S. Marshals Service, a South Carolina man wanted in a 2022 attempted murder was taken into custody Thursday in Sharp County, according to authorities.

Just after 1 p.m. on August 21, deputies and U.S. Marshals found 23-year-old Mickey Ahititt Naphoxay, who was reportedly hiding in a trailer in the Ozark Acres subdivision, and took him into custody without any problems, according to Sharp County Sheriff Shane Russell. According to Russell, Naphoxay was being detained at the Sharp County Detention Center while he awaited extradition to South Carolina.

“The United States Marshals Service’s cooperation and assistance in the safe apprehension of this fugitive is greatly appreciated by the Sharp County Sheriff’s Office,” Russell stated in the release.

Authorities in Union County, South Carolina, had been looking for Naphoxay in relation to a gunshot at the South Hills Sports Complex in Union on March 1, 2022, that injured an 18-year-old. Shortly after the event, investigators there accused Naphoxay with attempted murder. In relation to the event, another 18-year-old, Union resident Patrick Greer Williams, was charged with a crime after the fact. The person was hospitalized and was expected to live, according to local press sources at the time.
