Man jailed for domestic violence

A domestic incident on May 27 led to the arrest of a Ruston man after neighbors reported a woman crying for help.

Emanuel Lamar Lain, 38, was arrested by Ruston Police after investigating an incident at an apartment complex in the 2600 block of West Barnett Springs Avenue.

When officers arrived at the apartment, they heard a woman yelling and a man screaming. After officers announced their presence about three times, a woman opened the door. Officers saw that she had several red scratches on her neck and cuts on her lips and her forehead.

The woman was asked to step out of the apartment and officers entered and found Lain hiding in the corner of a closet. He was ordered out of the closet with his hands up but refused. Officers pulled Lain out of the closet and placed him under arrest.

The woman said Lain had been drinking and was in “one of his moods.” She said Lain punched her in the face but she was unaware of how many times he hit her. She said Lain had shattered her cell phone.

A records check showed Lain had been arrested previously for domestic abuse battery. He refused to talk with officers.

Lain was booked at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center for domestic abuse battery, resisting an officer, and simple criminal damage to property.
