A Shreveport man was arrested on drug and gun charges during a domestic altercation in Ruston.

After Ruston Police received a report of domestic abuse on Park Ridge Lane, Marcus A. Milton, 48, was taken into custody on June 28.

Outside the residence, responding officers spoke with a lady who reported having a verbal altercation with her boyfriend, Marcus Milton. She claimed that after repeatedly pushing her, Milton walked into the bedroom to pack his things. She claimed to have heard Milton chamber a cartridge in her gun.

The woman claimed that her mother and three children were still in the apartment when she fled from the bedroom door in terror and dialed 911.

The mother and the kids were allowed to leave the apartment once the police managed to get in touch with her.

Milton might then be taken into custody by the officers. On the floor of the bedroom lay a bag of suspected cocaine. Beneath a mattress was a Smith & Wesson handgun.

After a verbal altercation with the woman, Milton walked into the bedroom to pack his things and told the police. Although he acknowledged that the cocaine was his, he claimed he had never touched the gun.

Milton was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of cocaine, possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance in the presence of minors, domestic abuse aggravated assault, and domestic abuse battery at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center.
