A Minden man was killed Monday when the garbage truck he was driving crashed off the roadway in Claiborne Parish.
About 11 a.m. Monday, Adrian Combs, 40, of Minden, was driving a 2019 Mack TerraPro garbage truck for the Republic Services office based in Shreveport. As Combs drove west on Moody Road as part of the truck’s routine pickup route, the vehicle left the roadway and collided with a tree.
Combs, who was unrestrained at the time of the crash, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced deceased at the scene. An unrestrained passenger sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
State Police said impairment of the driver is not suspected; however, routine toxicology samples were collected and submitted for analysis. The cause of the crash is still under investigation by Louisiana State Police.
While not all crashes are survivable, statistics show that properly wearing your seat belt will dramatically reduce your chance of being severely injured or killed in a crash. Louisiana law requires that every person in a vehicle, regardless of seating position, always remain buckled up. Properly wearing your seat belt is one of the most effective ways to save your life and reduce injuries during crashes.
