Five plead guilty in 2023 Newport concert shooting

According to officials, five persons have entered guilty pleas in relation to the 2023 shooting at a concert in Newport that left a youngster dead and numerous others injured.

Around 2:30 in the morning on February 5, 2023, gunfire broke out at the former Branch High School on Clay Street, where a sizable crowd had assembled for a concert. Tamrionna Jarrett, a 19-year-old from Augusta, was killed, and several others were injured.

All five individuals were found guilty, according to Newport police and the Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division.

On June 25, 2025, 24-year-old Tashawn Landers entered a guilty plea to six charges of terroristic act, two counts of attempted murder, and second-degree murder. He received a prison term of 660 months.

On May 5, 2025, 21-year-old Steven Dye entered a guilty plea to the same charges and received a 300-month sentence.

Dedrick Robinson, 24, received a 240-month sentence for tampering with evidence and obstructing apprehension.

Richard McGee, 33, and Aaron Warren III, 31, were each sentenced to 84 months of felony probation for aggravated assault and terroristic acts.
