Fayetteville singer-songwriter Dylan Earl announces new album, ‘Level-Headed Even Smile’

Dylan Earl, one of the many talented singer-songwriters signed to Gar Hole Records, has revealed a new album.

Level-Headed Even Smile, Earl’s second album under Gar Hole and his fourth solo album overall, isn’t out until September 19, but three of its ten tracks—including the upbeat title track—can be streamed now, along with a music video:

While on tour with my friends Chris Acker and Desiree Cannon, I wrote this song. The west coast was where we were. The topic in the vehicle one day sparked a conversation about how horrible the world has become and how difficult it has been to remain happy despite everything. I believe that a large number of people are experiencing this at the moment. Being joyful while others are in pain nearly makes one feel guilty. Nevertheless, despite all, it is essential to take small steps to keep oneself and the outside world out. Regarding the song, Earl stated in a press release, “We all have different ways of doing it.”

A piece about Earl from Paste Magazine is also available today. The article examines Earl’s upbringing in Lake Charles, Louisiana, as well as his adolescence and early adulthood at Subiaco Academy and Hendrix College, in addition to highlighting his left-leaning political views. It’s been incredible to see the efforts we put forth as kids, when we were 19 and 20 years old, playing these fucking bloody, sweaty house shows, translate into something that’s applicable in this business. For those who first heard Earl’s music through the messy, folk-tinged rock of his previous band, Swampbird, reading this will probably bring back fond memories.

Level-Headed Even Smile is available for pre-order on CD, cassette, and vinyl here.
