Chaudrant, Louisiana. Lincoln School District No. 6 received a total of $2 million for improvements at Choudrant High School and Choudrant Elementary as part of the approval of the bond measure in April 2024.

According to Ricky Durrett, superintendent of the Lincoln Parish School Board, both of these projects have begun. Our goal is to obtain the best possible outcome for the proposal that was put out. The Choudrant community will be pleased with the outcome, in my opinion.

The high school’s multipurpose facility, which will be near the baseball and softball complexes, is expected to be finished by Christmas 2025.

Chris Jones, the principal at Choudrant High, stated, “We are really thrilled about the multipurpose building’s construction, which began last week.” The 4,000 square foot space will be divided in half for weight training and the other half for cheerleading and dance practice. We currently have a weight room that is just 800 square feet, and we practice with six teams in two gyms. In order to reduce crowding in the hallways, our weight room will be transformed into a classroom.

We intend to use this building for special events and modest banquets, and it will also provide us with a space to test for CLEP. The Choudrant community’s investment in providing amenities for our pupils is something we are incredibly grateful for.

It is anticipated that the elementary school classrooms and the addition of restrooms will be finished by February 2026.

Jennifer Martin, the principal of Choudrant Elementary, expressed her excitement about the new classroom improvements that will soon be added. In order to improve our student-teacher ratios, we are constructing three additional classrooms. Our learning environment will immediately benefit from smaller class sizes.

Two bathrooms have been shared by our 245 students in grades 3 through 5. During hectic periods like lunch and class changes, this has proven difficult. Our day will go more smoothly with fewer missed instructional hours and a shorter wait time thanks to an additional set of bathrooms. The Choudrant voters who enabled these additions have my sincere gratitude.

For both projects, Mann Construction won the bid.
