The Cedar Creek varsity and junior varsity cheer teams had a strong showing at the Universal Cheerleaders Association summer camp held at Gaylord Texan Resort last week.
Competing against cheer teams from more than 25 other schools, the Cedar Creek teams earned numerous awards and honors.
“The best part of cheer camp wasn’t just learning new routines and challenging ourselves with new skills—it was being together and bonding as a team,” said Cedar Creek Varsity Cheer Captain, Katherine Worthey. “Every girl is unique and brings a different aspect to the group. While we did very well at camp, the bond we’ve built is what stands out the most.
“I loved spending time with my fellow teammates, our amazing coaches, and with our JV team! This has been the best camp experience I’ve ever had and the most special team I’ve ever been a part of! I couldn’t be prouder to help lead such an incredible group of girls.”
In addition to both squads earning the spirit stick each day at camp, they earned a number of other honors.
The Varsity Cheer Team earned first place in both the Sideline and Cheer categories, while being named the GameDay Champs in the Large Varsity Division for the second straight year. They also received two Gold Superior Ribbons during camp evaluations.
Members of the CC Varsity Cheer Team include: Captain Katherine Worley, Co-Captain Emma Phillips, Co-Captain Mallory Waller, Britton Bennett, Selah Bryan, Kendal Basham, Hallie Cockerham, Georgia Dugdale, Gia Fernandez, Felicity Hunt, Sophie Mariano, Maggie Newman, Lauren Pearce, Avery Ryan, Mary Claire Temple, Caroline Vance, Presley Wall, Rubye Walsworth, Gilly Washam, and Clara Yates.
Not to be outdone, the Junior Varsity Cheer Team earned first place in the following categories: Camp Routine, Sideline, Cheer and overall in the Small JV Division. They also earned two blue Superior Ribbons during camp evaluations.
Members of the CC Junior Varsity Cheer Team include: Captain Lexie Vance, Co-Captain Juju Bush, Finley Best, Ella Rose Fisher, Bailey Martin, Lucy Millsaps, Ella Robinson, Aubrey Singleton, and Gabrielle Smith.
