Cave City awarded $500,000 for sewer main improvements

This week, the state of Arkansas announced more than $11.9 million in financing for community and infrastructure projects, including a $500,000 grant for Cave City to replace its sewer main system.

On Thursday, the Arkansas Economic Development Commission and Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders announced that 65 counties and communities will receive funds to enhance their quality of life, public infrastructure, and utilities.

The upgrades to the sewer main will take care of Cave City’s long-standing infrastructural requirements.

Sanders said in a statement that these awards are crucial because Arkansans throughout the state, from Norfork to McGehee to Horatio, deserve to live in safe, thriving communities.

The funds are provided by the Rural Community Grant and Community Development Block Grant programs, which offer yearly grants for projects including drainage, elder centers, fire safety facilities, and water and sewer systems.

Communities throughout the state, including Cave City, were awarded grants for public works projects such as drainage repairs and wastewater treatment upgrades.
