On August 3, 2025, Marvin Dewayne Wright, 75, of Mountain View, Arkansas, died. The late Ralph and Mildred (Curless) Wright welcomed him into the world on July 16, 1950, in Piggott, Arkansas.
Marvin was an honorable man who dedicated his life to serving his nation and God. He was a devout Baptist who served with pride in the US Army. Marvin married the love of his life, Glenda Rhody, in Campbell, Missouri, on November 19, 1972. He was incredibly loyal to his family. They instilled the principles of respect and empathy for others in their three children while raising them together.
Marvin had a strong enthusiasm for his job as a mechanic. He enjoyed teaching others how to perform tasks correctly, even when he was unable to complete them himself. He loved drawing home ideas and was a creative person who frequently made and built the equipment he needed.
Marvin was well-known for having a servant’s heart. He was kind, considerate, and always willing to help out, whether it was a neighbor in need or someone who had been hit by a car on the side of the road. He was quick-witted, loved to make others laugh, and genuinely never met a stranger.
Pies of any kind were particularly appealing to Marvin’s sweet tooth. He didn’t waver from his beliefs and didn’t hesitate to voice them, whether they were political or religious. He enjoyed singing bass with his wife and a group of musicians, and he loved both gospel and traditional country music.
Marvin’s surviving family includes his devoted wife of 52 years, Glenda (Rhody) Wright; two sons, Christopher and Richard (Patty) Wright of Hardy, Arkansas; a daughter, Melody (Ben Francis) Schaffter of Hardy, Arkansas; eight grandchildren, Amanda Gore, Richard Wright II, Connor Schaffter, Caitlin Schaffter, Sarah Candler, Karah Ring, Kailey Wright, and Tabitha Johnson; sisters, Alma (Tom) Sims of Piggott, Arkansas, and Ollie Foster of Piggott, Arkansas; twin brother, Marlin (Sandy) Wright of Piggott, Arkansas; and numerous family members and friends.
Marvin’s parents, Ralph and Mildred Wright, brothers, Donald, Bob, Eldon, and Thomas Wright, sister, Jean Lee, and twin baby sisters all passed away before him.
Marvin Wright’s graveside service is scheduled for Friday, August 8, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery. The officiant will be Brother Ronnie Stevens.
Richard Wright, Pattie Wright, Braden Candler, Houston Faulk, Daniel Clatfelter, Melody Schaffter, Ben Francis, and John Smith are the pallbearers.
Mountain View’s Roller Crouch will be in charge of making these arrangements.
