Obituary: Boyce D. Harmon

Batesville resident Boyce D. Harmon, 90, died on August 10, 2025. Austin and Clarice Harmon welcomed him into the world on June 5, 1935, in Bethesda, Arkansas.

During his more than 25 years of employment with the USPS, Boyce established a lot of acquaintances while delivering mail.

He had a kind and compassionate nature, was well-liked and respected by everyone he knew, and always had something positive to say about everyone. He was in high demand as a counselor and peacemaker. He loved his family, his church, and his God beyond all else. He spent thirty-five years as an elder at the North Heights Church of Christ.

He had a lovely tenor voice and loved to sing. Family get-togethers where hymnals were pulled out and voices were lifted in worship were among his favorite occasions.

Nine great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren survive him, along with his cherished wife of 69 years, Lovenia Harmon of the home; two children, David Harmon (Sandy) of Sulphur Rock, Arkansas, and Pam Cross (Michael) of Conway, Arkansas; four grandchildren, Jeremy Harmon (Jessica) of Maumelle, Arkansas; Amy Holstine of Viola, Arkansas; Kelly Elliott (Jeremy) of Abilene, Texas; and Karie Riddle (Jonathan) of Oak Park, California.

His brother Leon and parents Austin and Clarice passed away before him.

Memorials may be sent to Children’s Homes Inc., 5515 Walcott Road, Paragould, AR 72450, in place of flowers.

Jeremy Harmon, Keagan Harrison, Grady Harrison, Don Harmon, Steve Harmon, and Mike Harmon are the pallbearers. Bill Whittington, Jim Williams, Ron Dowdy, Tom Tackett, and Paul Smith, Jr. are honorary pallbearers.

Bill Whittington will lead the song during the funeral ceremonies, which will be conducted by Bob Wallis and Roger Ried at the Roller-Crouch Funeral Home on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at 2:00 pm. The burial will take place at Bethesda’s Campground Cemetery.

An hour before the service, there will be a visitation.
