The Sulac System debuts Saturday at White Water Tavern with Magic Cropdusters and Country Florist

Set aside time on your calendar for Saturday evening. The renowned White Water Tavern at West Seventh and Thayer streets is hosting the first performance of The Sulac System, a new punk rock band that includes local musician Sean Sapp, better known as Sulac, and a group of heavyweights from the Little Rock music scene.

Along with Sulac (Hector Faceplant, The Winston Family Orchestra), the Sulac System also features Jeremy Brasher (The Moving Front, Affection), Liz Johnson (The Winston Family Orchestra, Listen Sister), Zachariah Reeves (Tel Aviv, Eclipse Glasses), Geoff Curran (Mulehead), and Brent LaBeau (Mulehead).

The return of David Jukes’ elusive Magic Cropdusters, which the Arkansas Times hailed as one of Little Rock’s greatest bands of the past ten years in 2007, is also on the bill. We dubbed Jukes a creative genius whose lyrical repertory spans from the ordinary to the extraordinary after the release of The Apartment that same year. Jeff Matika and Scott Cook from Ashtray Babyhead will join Jukes, who was once famous for managing Vino’s.

The bill is completed by former tennis sensation Andrew Morgan (Affection, Ettiem), who has been putting out cassettes of his groove-heavy solo project, Country Florist, through Drawing Room Records.

When we commented to Sulac last week that the event had a very good local lineup, he simply responded, “It’s kind of a crazy cast of characters.”

It’s dragon-slaying time!
