The family of a married couple who were killed in an attack while hiking in Devil’s Den State Park in northwest Arkansas is remembering them as heroes for defending their young daughters.
Clinton Prairie Grove residents David Brink, 43, and Cristen Amanda Brink, 41, were discovered dead on a secluded route in the park on Saturday afternoon. There was no bodily harm to their 7 and 9-year-old daughters. The fatalities are being looked into as a double homicide by the Arkansas State Police.

Around 2:40 p.m., the park’s visitor center made the initial call to the authorities. Police think the offender escaped in a black four-door sedan with tape covering the license plate, which may have been a Mazda. The car might have taken State Highways 170 or 220 out of the area.
When last spotted, the suspect—a white man with a medium build—was dressed in dark jeans, a rolled-up long-sleeve shirt, sunglasses, fingerless gloves, and a dark baseball cap. He had a black backpack on him.
Although the manner of the Brinks’ deaths has not been revealed by authorities, police audio obtained by the New York Post suggests that there may have been a stabbing at the state park at that time.
The pair resided in eastern Montana and inland California, according to NBC News. They are located in Miles City, Montana, according to public data.
Col. Mike Hagar of the Arkansas State Police said the search is being conducted using every resource available. Park visitors and locals are being asked by officials to check any dashcams, GoPros, trail cameras, or home security film that was captured on July 26. To preserve the integrity of the investigation, authorities asked the public to refrain from posting any possible evidence online.
All trails at Devil’s Den State Park are closed until further notice, according to Arkansas State Parks.
