Back-to-school vaccine clinic announced for July 29

Just in time for the new school year, the Independence County Health Unit is hosting a free back-to-school vaccination clinic on Tuesday, July 29, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at its office, located at 120 Weaver Ave., Batesville.

Families are encouraged to bring their insurance cards to the clinic. However, no child will be turned away — vaccines will be provided at no cost, even for those without insurance or whose plans do not cover immunizations.

“We want Independence County students to stay healthy during the school year, and getting vaccinations is the best line of defense,” said José Balderas, administrator of the Independence County Health Unit.

The clinic will offer all required childhood immunizations, including DTaP, Hib, hepatitis A and B, MMR, meningococcal, polio, varicella, and pneumococcal conjugate. These vaccines help protect children and the wider community from preventable diseases.
