New restaurant planned for former Mugs Cafe space in NLR Argenta

Published On:

Construction is underway on a new restaurant slated to take the place of the former Mugs Cafe space in North Little Rock’s Argenta neighborhood at 515 Main St.

On the front door of the building is a construction permit, along with a notice on the window that a mixed drink permit application has been filed with the Arkansas Alcoholic Beverage Control Board. According to a weekly report from the state Department of Finance and Administration, the name of the business on the application is

La Catrina

. (Alcoholic Beverage Control is a part of the Department of Finance and Administration.)

There’s an existing restaurant called Taqueria Catrina in Sherwood, but we haven’t been able to confirm whether there’s a connection between it and the new restaurant in Argenta. We left a message with the Sherwood restaurant Tuesday, but haven’t heard back. We’ll update you when we know more.

Mugs Cafe’s North Little Rock location closed in November after more than a decade in Argenta. The Mugs location in Little Rock’s Heights neighborhood remains open.
