Obituary: Gerald Franklin Sutton

Gerald Franklin Sutton, 79, of Batesville, AR, died on Friday, July 11, 2025. Gerald was born on December 8, 1945, in Batesville, AR, to the late William “Bill” Sutton and Eunice (Wood) Sutton. He was of Baptist faith.

Gerald worked in the cable industry for over 30 years. He got to know many people throughout his years of serving cable TV, and he valued every relationship he formed. Gerald loved people. He loved making new friends and telling jokes. In his younger years, Gerald enjoyed hunting, fishing, and riding horses. Out of all his hobbies and passions, nothing meant more to Gerald than his friends and family. He was a great father. He loved his children most of all. He will be dearly missed by everyone who was blessed to know and love him.

Gerald is preceded in death by both of his parents; his brothers, Wesley Sutton and Vernon Sutton; and his sister, Virginia “Ginny” Safer. He is survived by his son, Chris Sutton; his daughter, Frankie Sutton; and several nieces and nephews.

Services are entrusted to Willis Funeral Service of Batesville, AR. Visitation will be at the Willis Funeral Service Chapel on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, from 6 PM until 8 PM. There will be a graveside service, officiated by Daniel Holt, on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at 10 AM, at Liberty Cemetery in Batesville (Gainsboro), AR. Honored to serve as pallbearers will be Harrell Baker, Steve Sandy, Mike Sandy, Brian Barber, Gary Tate, and Steve Milikin. The family would like to recognize all of his Cable TV family as honorary pallbearers and give a special “Thank You!” to Sandy Toleman, Sherry Younger, and Mrs. Wanda for the great care and their comforting at this difficult time.
