Ruston’s Texas Roadhouse patrons knew better than to eat and run on Monday night.
Ultimately, there were cops everywhere!
To raise money and support for the Special Olympics of Louisiana, members of the Ruston Police Department and the Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office teamed together with Texas Roadhouse.
Law enforcement officials greeted guests, helped servers, and gathered money for the Special Olympics during the Tip-A-Cop and Cover-the-Cruiser event.
Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Officer Chief Deputy Landon Hunt remarked, “We are incredibly appreciative of the generosity and support of our community at the tip a cop fundraiser.” A special thanks goes out to Texas Roadhouse for their hospitality and for bearing with us while we learned the ins and outs of their challenging profession.
Together with our law enforcement torch run, this event helps bring attention to and funding for this worthy cause.
On Monday night, patrons may show their support for the local Special Olympic athletes by tipping the policemen or by posting sticky notes on a police and deputy’s truck outside the institution.
Hunt described the occasion as a statewide celebration of support and inclusivity for Special Olympics of Louisiana. To help Special Olympics, the local police officers managed to raise $875.
According to the LPSO Facebook post, the sight of vibrant sticky notes decorating the cars served as a potent visual representation of the community’s dedication to promoting inclusivity and athlete empowerment for people of all abilities.
In addition to raising money, the event improved ties between the community and police enforcement, demonstrating the beneficial effects of teamwork.
