Madison Barton received the annual prize from the Northern Louisiana Medical Center Auxiliary for the 2024–2025 school year.
The Louisiana Tech Division of Nursing award Committee chooses one worthy student each year to receive a $1,500 award from the NLMC Auxiliary.
Because of her exceptional academic performance and initiative in the clinical setting, Barton was awarded the scholarship. She is interested in providing care for patients in the mother-newborn environment and is a member of the Alpha Delta Nu Honor Society for Nursing.
In May 2025, the Winnfield native earned her Associate of Science in Nursing degree and passed the licensing exam for registered nurses.
Tanya Sims, a professor and the nursing program’s scholarship chairman, expressed gratitude to the Division of Nursing for the NLHA’s support of nursing education at Louisiana Tech University.
