On Thursday, June 5, community residents flocked to the Ruston Farmers Market and Drew Jones Teaching Kitchen for the cherished annual Peach Cookery Contest, which is conducted in conjunction with the Louisiana Peach Festival.

The Park Haus-sponsored event showcased the region’s favorite fruit, peaches, in a delectable array of pies and cobblers, celebrating local culinary talent.

On the basis of taste, texture, presentation, peach flavor, and inventiveness, participants submitted their peach dishes to the Ruston Farmers Market at 5:00 p.m. After tasting each homemade dish, judges had to make a difficult choice.

The judges gave the top prizes in the adult and youth age groups after much consideration. The winners were revealed during the market on Saturday, June 7 at noon.

Winners of the Adult Division:

  • 1st Place: Mary Wilson
  • 2nd Place: Laurel Nerren
  • 3rd Place: AnnaGrace Hale

Winners of the Youth Division:

  • 1st Place: Kara Robertson
  • 2nd Place: Willow Tingle
  • 3rd Place: Milly McDonald

The Drew Jones Teaching Kitchen, which has hosted the competition for the past two years, offered the perfect environment for both contestants and judges. Sincere gratitude is extended by the Ruston Farmers Market to all participants, judges, volunteers, and community members who helped the 2025 Peach Cookery Contest succeed. We are especially grateful to Park Haus for their ongoing sponsorship and support, which enable us to host this event every year.

The Ruston Farmers Market is holding a craft meetup on Thursday, June 26 from 5-8 p.m. to encourage the community to support local sellers while participating in craft-related activities. Additionally, weekly culinary workshops are offered at the Drew Jones Teaching Kitchen every Thursday. Concerning the Farmers Market in Ruston

The Ruston Farmers Market, which sells only products made and grown in Louisiana, has been an essential component of the community since 2008. Since 2014, North Louisiana Farm Fresh (NLFF), a 501(c)(3) charity, has run the market, which has expanded into a year-round hub for community programs and fresh food.

NLFF’s goals are to foster the growth of a local food network, offer direct producer-to-consumer sales options, and educate North Louisiana residents about sustainable agriculture, nutrition, and health.
