Louisiana Tech University’s Athletics Department announced today a renewed vision that emphasizes people, purpose, and progress to help chart the course and future for LA Tech Athletics.

At the heart of this strategic refresh is a clear and empowering vision statement:

“Serving people on a purpose-driven path to advance the Louisiana Tech Athletics brand.”

This vision reflects Louisiana Tech Athletics’ unwavering commitment to intentional service of people — from student-athletes and coaches to alumni, fans, and the broader community – and long-term brand growth rooted in shared values.

“Our new vision reflects who we are and where we’re headed,” said

Ryan Ivey

, Vice President and Director of Athletics. “It’s a commitment to serve, compete, and grow — together — in ways that strengthen not only our brand but also our people and purpose.”

Supporting this vision are five core

CHAMP Values

that guide daily actions and long-term goals:

  • Connection

    – Building trust and relationships

  • Charge

    – Impact and attack the moment

  • Character

    – Consistency of positive habits

  • Community

    – Past, present & future, together

  • Competition

    – Be your best, expect our best

These values serve as a guide for the department’s approach to leadership, development, engagement, and performance ensuring every action taken reflects a collective set of behavioral standards.

“Our vision is about more than athletics—it’s about the people who make it all possible,” said Ivey. “By aligning our actions with purpose, we’re creating a pathway that uplifts individuals and strengthens the impact of the Louisiana Tech brand from student-athletes to community partnerships, and broader strategic branding efforts.”

The development of this vision and values framework was designed not as a top-down directive, but as a collaborative process involving voices from across Louisiana Tech Athletics. Coaches, staff, and student-athletes alike will take part in defining what each CHAMP value looks like in action, shaping Standards of Behavior that reflect their own day-to-day experiences and aspirations.

“This isn’t just a statement on a wall,” said Ivey. “It’s a living standard — something we’re asking everyone to help build and own. When people help shape the expectations, they believe in them. You build the climate daily, collectively, that’s how culture sticks.”

“This launch also marks the beginning of a continuous journey. We will implement regular opportunities for teams and departments to evaluate their alignment with CHAMP behaviors, reflect on performance, and revise standards as needed. This ongoing process of assessment, reflection, and accountability ensures that the vision stays active and responsive to the evolving needs of the department in a very transient and turbulent time in college athletics.”
