The New Testament book of John tells the story of a lame man that would go to the pool of Bethesda every day hoping he could get in the pool when the waters were stirred. Evidently there was a miraculous healing power in the waters when the pool was stirred. We don’t know much about the water stirring impact, but we do know a few things.
- The man was lame for thirty-eight years.
- He evidently came to the pool on a regular basis.
- He was unable to get in the water before others due to his condition.
- Many others were there beside the pool and evidently some were healed in the water.
- Jesus healed him.
Think about this story for just a moment. This guy had to ask others to help him get to and from the pool every day. He saw others have success, but it was outside his capability. I am sure those taking him tried to talk him out of going on many occasions. After all, 38 years with no success, why keep trying?
What if he had decided to just stay home on the day that Jesus passed through? That one day was the day that changed everything!
Are you dealing with a “pool” in your life?
Is there something that you have struggled with for years and haven’t been able to resolve it? Is there some aspect or issue in your life that continues to be a burden that you carry around? You see others finding success, but you can’t grasp it. Can you relate to the lame man?
PLUS DAYS is my description of living out your identity and not being defined by circumstances in life. A part of the PLUS DAYS approach to life is a concept of PLUS ONE. PLUS ONE is the idea of just one more. It’s the premise that today is a new day with a new opportunity. Today could be the day that changes everything!
The obstacle we face may be far too challenging to even consider overcoming, but we can take one step (PLUS ONE), make one phone call, go to one appointment, have one conversation, go to one session, take one treatment, send one resume, write one page, do one workout, eat healthy one meal, or any number of other “one” things.
The concept of PLUS ONE just means we do one more. I embrace this concept in my morning training workout. Every day I do one more rep, one more set, or one more lap than I did for that workout the previous week. It’s more of a mindset benefit than physical challenge. I am focused on a positive mindset that will drive me to do PLUS ONE in every aspect of my life.
We never know when persevering to do one more may just be the breakthrough that we are searching for in our pursuit.
- When one more conversation finally makes a difference with a friend that needs help.
- When that one more attempt produces the result that we desperately need.
- When that one more just showing up results in something we never imagined!
- When one more prayer (asking, seeking, and knocking) is the key!
Whatever you are seeking, I encourage you to be a PLUS ONE person experiencing a PLUS Day and living a PLUS LIFE!
